WHAT SALUBI HAD THAT AMORI HAS.

Chief Thompson Salubi was pioneer in Urhobo affairs. Salubi lived for Urhobo. Although he was a politician, his Urhobo interest was what matters to him. Other than Mowoe, the Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, has not had a better leader than SALUBI. One aspect of Salubi that must be widely acknowledged was that he never compromised Urhobo interest for personal gains. Salubi understood that he was first Urhobo before politics.

The aspect of Salubi that Amori has is his genuine love for Urhobo. Like Salubi, Amori loves Urhobo. For instance, Amori was a front-runner for Urhobo to produce the Governor in 1998-1999 era, wherein Olorogun James Ibori was victorious. The roles he played to have an Urhobo Governor was what endeared him to Olorogun James Ibori. The uniqueness of that era was that Amori still did not neglect Urhobo when it matters most.

Like Salubi, Amori championed the creation of Mosogar Kingdom and even helped to site a textiary institution there. Amori facilitated the few tarred roads in Mosogar. With Amori as backbone in Ibori’s government three polytechnics were established and officially opened in 2005 with one sited in Urhoboland, courtesy of Ighoyota Amori as Commissioner for Education.

Ighoyota Amori did not end at that level. He was dogged and committed to Urhobo struggle just like Salubi. He helped to recruit quite a good number of Urhobo people into the state civil service. He recommended a good number of qualified Urhobo people for appointments. Amori facilitated the construction of roads, fixed dilapidated schools and even built more. It was during his time as Commissioner for Education that most primary and secondary schools in Delta State were renovated and fenced. More of the first grade schools in Delta State till presently were the good handwork of Amori as Commissioner for Education.

In terms of Urhobo traditional system, Amori gives his all humility to them. Amori’s love for Urhobo kings is worth acknowledging. There is none of the Urhobo kings he does not personally know. He knows all the kings individually and he does not need anyone to hold his hands to the kings.

Like Salubi, interestingly, Amori speaks Urhobo fluently. Give Amori two days to address Urhobo on his proposed plans for the largest ethnic group in Delta State, he will render it with precision and boldness. Amori speaks Urhobo perfectly well. More importantly to note is that he lives among Urhobo, before and after elections. Amori lives in Mosogar and not in either Lagos or Abuja.

Like Salubi, Amori is a go-getter, a genuine patriot, committed father and transparent liberator. Ipso factor, Amori is the best among the candidates, where there are others.
