A wild harmattan fire has gutted a section of the Works Department building (Campus 1) at Delta State College of Education, Mosogar.
The inferno which occurred on Christmas day was allegedly a result of illegal bush burning by unknown persons, which razed large portions of the College grass land and caused serious damaged to a section of the Works Department building with 2 vehicles parked outside completely burnt.
It took the communal efforts of Security officers in the College, some staff, good spirited locals and men of the fire service to put out the ragging fire.
Recalled that last week, similar incident happened where a section of school of Vocational Education storey building was also consumed by fire.
The Management of the College through the Public Relation Officer, Mr. Simon Fole has earlier issued a circular banning bush burning and farming by unauthorized individuals in and around the College premises to forestall the devastating act. While thanking the State Government in her sustained interest in higher Education, the College Management further called for more of Government’s assistance in renovation of the burnt structures and replacements of burnt utility cars.
