The Senate is one of the two chambers of the Nigeria’s National Assembly that make up the Bicameral Legislature. It is popularly known as the Red Chamber in Nigeria. The Senate is made up of 109 duly elected Distinguished Senators representing Nigeria’s 109 Senatorial Districts.

The formation of the Chamber is based on three Senatorial Districts per State and one for the Federal Capital Territory. It is presided over by the President of the Senate and assisted by the Deputy President of the Senate. They are also assisted by eight Principal Officers and several Committee Chairmen and Vice Chairmen.

The eight Principal Officers include Majority Leader, Deputy Majority Leader, Minority Leader, Deputy Minority Leader, Chief Whip, Deputy Chief Whip, Minority Whip and Deputy Minority Whip.

As the highest lawmaking institution in the country, the Red Chamber is constitutionally vested with the power of making laws for the peace, order and good governance of the Federation. Similarly, it is empowered to represent the interest, yearnings, aspirations and wellbeing of the citizenry. Also, the apex Parliament is saddled with the power of scrutinizing public institutions and officials to ensure probity and accountability in governance.

Similarly, the Upper Legislative house also intervenes in matters of urgent National interest like insecurity, epidemic, drought, poverty, illiteracy, flood and other national issues. It can also intervene in resolving disputes between the government and labour unions with a view to usher in industrial harmony and stabilize the nation’s polity.

The Red Chamber equally has a unique function of impeachment of the President, Vice President, Federal Judges and other high officials of the Executives; including the Federal Auditor General, Members of the Independent National Electoral Commission and Federal Inland Revenue Commission.

The Senate confirms the President’s Nominations of Senior Diplomats, Members of the Federal Cabinet, Federal Judicial Appointments, Members of the Nation’s Electoral Commission and so on.

All these functions of the Senate deserved a competent legislator who understands the philosophy of National politics to be able to navigate and influence the House in bringing resourceful legislation to the people.

Chief Sen. Ighoyota Amori possessed the competence, charisma and exposure required to be a strong voice in the Nigerian Senate.

It will be greatly advantageous to Urhobo Nation if the Delta Central Senatorial District mandate is given to Chief Sen Ighoyota Amori who is most sorted and best qualified.This will enable Urhobo to stand a chance of producing a principal officer in the 10th Assembly in the person of our distinguished Senator Amori, having been sworn-in before as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,under the Sen. Bukola Saraki led 8th Assembly of the Nigerian Senate.

Chief Amori with his wonderful footprint and development over the years,will leave no stone unturned in ensuring Urhobo Nation have a better representation interms of physical infrastructures and human development.

Chief Amori election as the next Senator of Delta Central Senatorial District will usher in a new era for social, economic and cultural advancement across the nook and cranny of the Urhobo territories.It will rejuvenate the spirit of oneness and build fresh bond of cohesion among our people both in diaspora and home.

He is a man who is tested and trusted with his people oriented leadership,that will bring food to everyone table with the very best of legislation.Chief Amori can’t be in any office without people feeling his impact.He knows how to use position and office maximally for the general good,favour and empowerment of his people.

Chief Amori is the only man who doesn’t wait for result before empowering people,he empowered the people and encouraged them to grow in their chosen career.Even people he doesn’t know,he has gladly empowered.All these due to his unquantifiable love and selflessness to the service of humanity.

Finally,I want to appeal to all our delegates to vote Chief Sen. Ighoyota Amori for better Urhobo Nation.We need a man who can provide us a robust and inclusive leadership in Delta Central.We need to vote Chief Amori for competent, technocrat and prowess to make things happened through his contacts, network and connections in National politics,not a man who will go there to learn about National Politics.
