We want to draw the attention of our father Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Founder and President of Believers’ LoveWorld known as Christ Embassy International over the dubious and ungodly conducts of Pastor Anthony Aduroja (Zonal Pastor),and two other members of the church namely Victor Ukuejubola and Mr. Hezekiah Esedafe of BLW UK ZONE 2 LTD in connection with a church building contract/agreement located at Oakley Place, Bermondsey, Southwark London United Kingdom.
In our preliminary investigation into the matter, Pastor Anthony Aduroja who is the Zonal Pastor of Christ Embassy London, contacted Gplanet Construction LTD, a company based in U.K (already provide other services) and owned by a Nigerian to discuss refurbishment work of the church project about the middle of February 2021.
Gplanet Construction Ltd requested for the scope of works and enquired if the requisite regulatory permits have been sought and obtained.
Pastor Adurojah answered yes to all questions and requested a site visit to the church to quote for the labour & material without any scope of works.
Upon arrival at the church site, Gplanet Construction Ltd was met by Mr Victor Ukuejubola and Mr. Hezekiah Esedafe (members of BLW UK ZONE 2 LTD aka Christ Embassy Church) who instructed Gplanet
Construction Ltd to cost only for labour works as the church would provide all the materials needed for the total refurbishment.
Accordingly, Gplanet Construction Ltd followed the instruction and, did give an estimated cost for labour only at £136,151.54 absent of any scope of works (subject to the scope of works which had not been provided).
Gplanet Construction Ltd subsequently had another meeting with Pastor Anthony Aduroja to inform him of the findings at the church site and the instruction received from his church representative (Mr. Victor & Mr. Hezekiah).
Surprisingly, this time, Mr. Victor & Hezekiah were also in attendance and denied their initial
instruction to Gplant Ltd at the site visit.
Pastor Anthony Aduroja also expressed his shock at the instruction from his representatives. Shortly after the meeting ended, he discussed with Gplanet Construction Ltd on the phone and informed them that he sensed some foul play among his representatives.
He reiterated his position and assured Gplanet Construction Ltd not to be
intimidated by whatever foul play his representatives were engaged in. He also asked Gplanet Construction Ltd to only report to him directly and not any of the representatives.
Gplanet Construction Ltd was then given a week to re cost for this project, again with no scope of works.
Gplanet Ltd gathered that previous contractors were given over a month) because Pastor Anthony Aduroja
stated that he wanted the quote as quick as possible as time was of the essence.
Given the time constraint, Gplanet Construction
Ltd gave an initial quote £364,270.60, and reported back to Pastor Anthony Aduroja, who requested that Gplanet Construction Ltd revisit the site to redo the costing (again without any scope of works). At this point Gplanet Construction Ltd requested for a budget for the project rather than going back and forth
considering the short time frame for which Pastor Anthony Aduroja wanted the building works to commence and complete.
Gplanet Construction Ltd paid another visit to site to do a requote (This time taking into consideration Material and Labour) and presented a total of £509,324.65 excluding VAT and contractors fee of 20% of
the total cost for the project.
At another meeting with Pastor Anthony Aduroja to present the third quote, he informed Gplanet Construction Ltd that the total budget for the project was £250,000 (Two hundred and fifty pounds) before VAT. Gplanet Construction Ltd informed him that this was impossible, as such a budget was insufficient to complete the job, given the disrepair and dilapidated condition of the building as result of being abandoned for over 10 years.
With a deflated countenance and disappointment, he informed Gplanet Construction Ltd of his frustrations and that no contractor has
been able to work with that budget (£250,000) also.
He stated that previous quotes from other contractors came to the tune of £800,000 (eight hundred thousand pounds) and above and other contractors were asking for an upfront deposit of 50% of the total cost which he confirmed he could not afford at a time.
He expressed that the contractors who had started working on the building previously were unable to do the work right. Pastor Anthony Aduroja reiterated that the church was not satisfied with their work and approach and hence discontinued their services. He then asked, Gplanet Ltd to repair the leaking roof to prevent further damage and alleviate the damp issues in the church building. Gplanet carried out this short project and was paid.
Pastor Adurojah expressed confidence in Gplanet Construction Ltd following the quality of work done with the roof.
Gplanet Ltd advised that they be paid upfront before the major work commenced. Pastor Adurojah pleaded that he could not afford to pay upfront but negotiated with Gplanet Ltd to carryout the work in stages and advised of the cost as the work progresses, which Gplanet Ltd did.
Pastor Adurojah informed Gplanet Ltd, that he had accomplished everything that pastor Chris Oyakhilome had assigned him to do in the Uk such as healing the sick, healing the blind and raising the dead, save for accomplishing a church worship building.
Given his incessant pleadings and the fact that he was the pastor of the church, it was agreed.
Gplanet Ltd then sent agreement/ contract to Pastor Adurojah to sign. Pastor Adurojah asked Gplanet to commence work as time was of the essence and that he was in Nigeria attending a Christ Embassy program. He claimed he was unable to sign until his return. However, Mr Victor Ukuejubola seemed to be the one corresponding on his behalf. He kept amending the contract to state that £250.000 was the agreed amount. Gplanet resent the contract to him with the actual quotes.
As this whole saga was in the midst of covid, prices of materials, labour and sub contractor services were on the rise. Gplanet Ltd communicated this to Pastor Adurojah. As the scope of the work became clearer each day it was discovered that the major repairs in the building were more.
Pastor Adurojah was informed at every stage of the progress and cost of works including inherent disrepair and damages. He made payments in installments and most of the time these payments were insufficient to cover labour, materials and cost which then resulted on the delay of completion to the project. This caused Gplanet to lose billable hours.
All efforts for Gplanet Ltd to get them to agree upfront cost and payment was met with further excuses from Pastor Adurojah that he was in Nigeria and can only look at paperwork upon his return. This never happened. He would read the emails and not respond.
Gplanet Ltd informed pastor Adurojah on several occasions that they had to shut down the site due to lack of funds, materials and staff. Pastor Adurojah would immediately make payments (even though insufficient) and request that the site must stay open to completion.
At some point he became very hostile and claimed that he must fulfill his duty to pastor Chris Oyakhilome by completing the project and that the site must remain open. Yet he gives excuses when he is asked to review the updated cost and sign the agreement.
At this point, Gplanet Ltd informed him that the building site would be shut down if payments and costs are not agreed in writing. He then sent a WhatsApp message to the company saying that, he had agreed on a cost of £375,000 even though he did not respond to Gplant Ltd emails regarding the same, (which supercedes the £250,000 he and his representatives were trying to impose on Gplanet Ltd initially and explains why they were dodging to sign the agreement).
At this point, materials cost were rising and the project had exceeded its completion date due to insufficient funds and the artful dodger act of not signing paperwork and responding to emails.
Five months into the project, he demanded that he would like to deal with the merchants personally as he and his representatives believed that Gplanet Ltd was over charging the church. Though this was not the case, and such request was unusual and not standard procedures, Gplanet explained that they were not over charging but complied by giving him the details he requested in good faith. He also requested that the receipt to all expenditures be given to him. Again, Gplanet Ltd complied in good faith.
After he received the details requested, he did nothing and failed to respond as usual. When he was asked are a meeting, he said he was too busy to read emails or look at the expenditures documents sent. Pastor Adurojah would pay some sub contractors and leave Gplanet Ltd and other third party suppliers unpaid. As the cost began to rise, he totally boycotted both Gplanet Ltd, third party suppliers and the sub contractors and stopped every communication including making payments of any kind.
He subsequently informed the third party suppliers and sub contractors that he had fully paid Gplanet Ltd and that they should resolve their invoices with Gplanet Ltd.
He also informed them that they can initiate legal proceedings against Gplanet Ltd, if the invoices are unresolved. This we find quite shocking.
Whilst this is not an exhaustive narrative of the dubious and deceptive practices of Pastor Adurojah and his representatives Victor Ukuejubola and Hezekiah Esedafe. The shocking aspect was that when Gplanet then decided to shut down the site until all paperwork and invoices are resolved, pastor Adurojah sent a text demanding why Gplanet Ltd shut down his site without his permission. They all disappeared for 3 months after the sight was shut down and would not respond to telephone calls or emails.
When Gplanet Ltd realized that he and his representatives were being dubious and deceptive, they sent him letter ( among several reminder letters) and he and his representatives sought legal advice and claimed that they have no contract with Gplanet Ltd as Pastor Adurojah had signed no contract. This tells us that, it was his plans all along to defraud the company.
The project has been carried out and is at completion stage and Pastor Anthony Aduroja, Mr. Victor Ukuejubola and Mr. Hezekiah Esedafe have all disappeared.
All effort for Gplanet to get paid for the cost, labour, materials and the VAT element spent on the project proved abortive.
Gplanet Ltd has also been corresponding with their lawyer (probably a church member) to resolve the matter and interestingly the lawyer takes the position of Pastor Adurojah.
The church have also ceased equipment belonging to third party suppliers and all efforts to get them to return the property have fallen on deaf ears. The matter has been reported to the police and is being pursued as theft.
They have gone into hiding living Gplanet Ltd to pay their debts and all avenue for the company to get across to Pastor Chris Oyakhilome who is the founder and president of the Christ Embassy Church (Believers Love World) have been ignored.
This ungodly behavior of refusing to fulfill the contract/ agreement, has put the company in a difficult position, including paying staff and workers salaries, whose livelihood are equally affected.
Gplanet Ltd, had transacted with the church in good faith and the Christ Embassy church have been dubious and deceptive.
Gplanet who has been a major financier of a few Niger Delta outreach program, have empowered hundred of Niger Delta youths and a company of such must not be defrauded by some ungodly elements in the church.
Finally, we are appealing to Pastor Chris Oyakhilome to please look into this matter in order to address every breached and outstanding debt.
We also appeal to all well meaning Nigerians to wave into the matter to ensure Gplanet get paid
Help us share this information until it get to Pastor Chris Oyakhilome.
