Boarding school in Nigeria is a hell to some children whose parents thought the best way to keep the children due to busyness, is to dump them in the school boarding.
Many parents do not have relationship with their children and so, can’t understand the children if they are going through emotional stress, abused and various kinds of bulling from older students who claimed Lord in the school boarding in the name of cultism.
Many young children have been initiated into various dark kingdoms including cultism, bad gangs and other secret cults, thereby indulging in various social violence, taking illicit drugs, rape, robbering and other minor crimes.Do you know that many bad habits some children have today, came from their peers who lured and influenced them in the school boarding, since they are always alone without proper monitoring and supervision from the school management?
A boy once narrated his experienced with me when he was in school boarding,he said they will slick out of the boarding house to go and smoke, club and carry girls and by the time they come back late, they will give money to the gateman, who will allowed them to enter the hostel, when he was in secondary school. This boy who is not yet seventeen, smoke marijuana, carry girls to his uncle’s house and do other disgusting things. These habits he learnt from the secondary school boarding house.
Having watched the interview granted by the father of the Late Sylvester Oromoni Jr. who the cause surrounding the serious injuries sustained by the boy that led to his untimely death is unknown,it is quite unfortunate to note that, our parents are not ready to pay close attention to their children.
Worstly, schools who are also saddled with the responsibilities of keeping and raising these children in better way, are not interested in the proper monitoring and supervision of the children under their care, but collecting huge amount of money from parents, all in the name of big men school.
Today, majority parents don’t even have time for themselves, not to talk of parenting their children, through close monitoring and building cordial relationship with them,to enable their children open up to them,no matter the threat from outsiders.
What could have made the young Sylvester Oromoni not to open up to his parents, and tell his parents what happened to him and mention those who perpetrated the evil, even in the face of death,to the extent he died without telling anyone what happened?
