The Nigerian Defence Academy will be spending N498 million on fencing of the two campuses of the military academy.
The NDA Commandant, Ibrahim Yusuf disclosed this while appearing before the House of Representatives Committee on Defence on Wednesday.
It would be recalled that some armed men attacked the NDA in Afaka in August, killing two and abducting one officer.
According to Yusuf, N250 million will be spent on the school in Afaka and N248 on the school in Ribadu.
While the Ribadu’s fund is in the proposed budget, the NDA Commandant is requesting the one for Afaka.
Another request made by the Commandant is N300 million for passing out the parades of the academy.
In all, the entire proposed budget of the institution amounted to N22.7 billion for the 2022 fiscal cycle.
Responding to the request, the Chairman of the Committee, Babajimi Benson said the request for N300 million POP expenditure and N200 million NDA Afaka fencing should have come from the Ministry of Finance.
However, he assured the school that the committee will consider the request.
