Iyorchia Ayu has emerged as the national Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Ayu’s emergence marked the conclusion of the PDP’s elective national convention in the early hours of Sunday.
The former Senate President went into the elective convention as the consensus candidate of the Northern PDP leaders.
Meanwhile,Chief Sen. Ighoyota Amori JP from Delta Central Senatorial Districts,Delta State,was elected as the Deputy National Organizing Secretary of the party.Chief Amori won the election with a landslide victory,after been declared unopposed few days ago by the party, seeing all delegates casting all votes in his favour.
The Delta Bloc of the PDP, witnessed the attendance of His Excellency Chief James Onanefe Ibori (Former Governor of Delta State),His Excellency Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan (Former Governor of Delta State) and His Excellency Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa (Governor of Delta State)
Others includes the state Chairman of the party,Chief Barr. Kingsley Esiso,Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly,Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori,Rt.Hon Ben Rollands Igbakpa (Member Representing Ethiope Federal Constituency),Local Government Chairmen, including Rt. Hon. Nelson Oghenedoro Owoso (Ethiope West LGA),Hon. Pharm. Victor (Ethiope East) and others
PDP local government Chairmen in Delta State, including Hon. Solomon Obareki JP (Ethiope West LGA) and others.
A total of 3,511 accredited delegates to the National Convention were called out to vote.
First to be called were delegates from Abia and Adamawa States. Abia has 116 delegates while Adamawa has 118 delegates.
According to the Chairman, Central Planning Committee of the Convention and Governor of Adamawa State, Alhaji Umaru Fintiri, there were a total of 3,701 delegates in the PDP, out of which 3,511 were accredited.
