Omoni Oboli was born on the 22nd of April,1978 in Benin city Edo state to late Mr Matthew Ukey family in Mosogar city,Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State.She studied foreign Languages(majorly in French)from the prestigious university of Benin with 2nd Class upper division honour and thereafter, proceeded to New York,where she studied at the New York Film Academy.
Upon her graduation,she joined the movie industry, becoming an excellent Nigerian actress,script writer,film director ,producer and a trained digital filmmaker ,who successfully caved a veritable path in the porous movie industry,not only in Nigeria,but across Africa and the world atlarge.
She has featured and written various screen play such as;The figurine(2009),Achor baby(2010),Fatal Imagination,Being Mrs Elliott,The First Lady and Wives on Strike (all in 2016) and played various role in the following international award movie;The Figurine (Mona)2009,Bent Arrows (Lola)2010,Achor Baby(joyous Unanga),Feathered Dreams(Sade)2012, Brothers Keeper(Mena),Render to Caesar (Alero)2014,Being Mrs Elliott,Lunch Time Hero’s(Governor’s Wife),The Duplex (Adaku),As Crazy as it Gets(Katherine)2015,The First Lady(Michelle),Fifty(Maria),Wives on strike,Okafor’s Law(Ejiro)2016,The Wedding party2 (2017),Wives on strike2,and my wife and mom at war 2017.
Omoni Oboli has several awards to her credit, including Best Actress Narrative features at the award for Best Actress at the Harlem International Film Festival in 2010,She was nominated for the Best Actress in a leading role award at the 2011 Africa Movie Academy Awards,Big screen Actress of the year award at the 2014 ELOY Award,for her movie Being Mrs Elliott and was awarded the sun Nollywood”Personality of the Year” in 2015.She has directed several movies such as Being Mrs Elliott,The first Lady,Wives on Strike and Okafor ‘s Law,which was released on the 31st March 2017 after she won the legal battle between her and Jude Idada who claimed to have written part of the script for Okafor’s Law.
Omoni Oboli set up a charity organization, “The Omoni Oboli Foundation” to use her celebrity status to bring relief to the plight of the less privileged women and children of Nigerian society. The foundation has been able to embark on several projects which included the feeding of street children in Lagos.
She got married in 2000,to Mr.Nmandi Oboli and she is blessed with three kids.She has proven to be strong among women with the Urhobo lionic blood and spirit, Sterling the moving industry and making the Urhobo nation proud.
She is one among other Urhobo young ladies moulding the image of the great Urhobo nation,in their respective professions.She is indeed a perfect model which every of our young ladies and girls in Urhobo nation needs to emulate in building a better and United Urhobo nation.
