The Delta Central 2023 political lobby group otherwise known as DC-23 had two major Consultative meetings with the Political leaders of the Ika Nations. One with the Ika South LGA, while the other with the Ika North-East LGA. Both meetings took place yesterday Wednesday the 6th October 2021 respectively.
The meeting with Ika South took place at the PDP Secretariat, No. 188, Marieri street, Boji-Boji Agbor while the meeting with Ika North-East took place at the True Word Event Centre, Owa Alero, Boji-Boji Owa.
The National Chairman of DC-23, Chief (Senator) Ighoyota Amori (JP) while addressing the Ika leaders on the purpose of the visit reiterated the need to stick with the zoning formula adopted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which have led to the successful and continuous wins of party at the governorship level. He prays that this stand should not be broken come 2023 being the turn of the Delta Central Senatorial District. He reminded the Ika political leaders of the strong bound between the Ika’s and the Delta Central family and how it is important that the Delta Central can bank on the Ika people any day.
Chief Amori, a seasoned and experienced speaker, using some innuendos and biblical terms to drive home his points to the admiration of all, vehemently asked for the support of the Ika nation to back the zoning system and give the Delta Central their unwavering support come 2023 to produce the next Governor of Delta State.
On their part, the leaders of both the Ika South and Ika North-East at their respective meetings acknowledge the truth behind the drive of DC-23 on the zoning. They asked that time be given them to consult with their leaders, pointing out that His Excellency the Governor, Senator (Dr) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa is the Politically leader of the Ika nation and so directions from him was key in their corresponding actions. They thank the leaders and members of DC-23 taking into cognisance the long term relationship between the Ika people and the Delta Central which they promise to keep building on.
The well attended meetings from both sides saw the DC-23 members all dress in their colourful native attires.
The meetings ended on a good note and a photo session completed the events.
